We are delighted to announce that the expansion works at Sir Harry Smith are now complete, offering students updated facilities and a wider breadth of opportunities for learning. This expansion is allowing us to increase the total number of college places to 1200 and the Published Admission Number (PAN) to 240 in response to current population growth and expected demand from the college’s catchment area.

Cambridgeshire county council worked closely with the college and Aspire Learning Trust on this project and they have been involved in the proposed design of the new buildings. The Council appointed Kier Construction to carry out the works and AtkinsRéalis to project manage. Building works started January 2023 and was completed March 2024, on time.

The work included a new two story 9 classroom teaching block extension to the main building, some window replacements,  a new kitchen, extended dining area, a new ICT suite, Art room, Food Technology improvements, additional Science and Music teaching areas, new hard play areas including a new all-weather pitch, new netball court and re-surfacing of existing courts, new fencing and some external surfacing to the car park.

The new spaces created will be in full operation from September 2024 to allow for growth of Sir Harry Smith Community College’s increasing student numbers.
